| When we launched the publication a year ago, we focused
our editorial on the dental assistant. Believe me when I say that there
is no group that is more underappreciated or underutilized than the dental
assistant. How important are dental assistants to PennWell and to Dental
Office? Well, we’ve decided to focus on the assistants on a monthly basis,
rather than just five times a year. In order to do that, we are building
an electronic monthly journal that will be sent to dental assistants, helping
them become better in their profession and more passionate about what they
do.
If you’re interested in advertising in the new e-newsletter,
please email us:click here The
first electronic newsletter will hit your inbox in January, and it has
the full support of DANB and ADAA (I want to personally thank these two
outstanding organizations for all of their support).
With the electronic journal focusing on dental assistants,
Dental Office magazine will transition to a product-centered book, beginning
with the January/February issue, scheduled to be released in time for the
2008 Chicago Midwinter Meeting.
The setup of the magazine will be...
** One product per page. Each product will have a large
product photo (with no background), lots of white space, and 150 to 200
words describing it. There will be one or two user quotes (gathered from
users of the product supplied to us by the company). Across from the product
will be an ad page. The product page will be on the left and the ad page
will be on the right.
** One article will focus on the integration of a certain
technology into the operatory. There is more to using a piece of technology
than just plugging it in, and Dr. Jeff Carter will write in each issue
about how to integrate technology into your practice. We will have an example
of an integrated office, will ask the doctor what he or she did, have pictures
illustrating the integration, and even give an easy-to-follow integration
checklist. Think of it as “Office Integration for Dummies.”
There will also be focus groups, product reviews, an online
place for reader interaction and ratings (www.dentalofficemag.com), and
possibly even an award given out to outstanding products.
