As the number one process to add value to a flexible package, printing is increasingly important and is estimated to account for $4 billion or just under 20% of the industry revenue. According to the report, converters print with seven colors, on average, and the United States counts 3,000 presses and 460 flexible packaging converters.

Expected areas of growth include consumer convenience solutions, food safety and reclosable packaging, improved graphics and shelf appeal, increases in barrier packaging and future advancements in MAP and pouch technology.
