Platform: Mac or PC
Media: CD with accompanying SWOP matchprint proof preferred.
FTP uploads or e-mail are permissible only if a color proof is mailed

and notify us when upload is complete. Because of security features, files
will not display on the site.
File Format: PDF files using Press Quality job options are prefered.
Use 300dpi CMYK images with color management off. Embed all fonts. Other
file formats can be accepted but may require additional processing time.
These include 300dpi CMYK TIF, EPS with fonts converted to paths, and native
PageMaker, InDesign or Quark files with fonts and images included. MS Word
or text files will be retypeset to fit. Please include logos or images
separately as 300 dpi tiff, eps or jpeg.
File Naming: Include file extension (.pdf) in file name. Do not
use slashes, backslashes or quote marks in file name.
Mechanical: Magazines are produced direct to plate using stochastic
printing. Publication trim size is 8" x 10 3/4". Keep all essential material
3/8” from trim. Total density 280% maximum. Trapped files are not accepted.
Color cannot be guaranteed if any elements must be converted to CMYK from
RGB, LAB or Pantone. Unless otherwise requested, disks will be discarded.
Color Proofs: Contract-quality color proofs matching Standard
Web Offset Printing (SWOP) standards (Matchprint, Kodak Approval, Cromalin)
are preferred and required for color guidance on press. Laser or inkjet
printouts may be accepted for content only.
Charges: Ad makeup and alterations may incur a charge of $75/hr,
billed in 15 minute increments. Charge to convert native files: $75. Matchprint
output from supplied digital files: $45.
