Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs): Registered Nurses with additional
education and national certification in maternity and women's health care.
68% have Master's Degrees and many are also licensed as Nurse Practitioners.
CNMs have prescribing authority in 48 states (all but GA and PA), plus
the District of Columbia, American Samoa, and Guam. Midwifery practice
includes not only maternity and postpartum care, but also well woman health
